Castelli Poggio Long Sleeve Jacket

Forty degrees seems really cold, especiallyfor those of us in a desert where the temperature hovers in the high 80s rightthrough October. But, if you live anywhere else, Jack Frost is coming. If youare out riding and working up a sweat, you want a layer that blocks the windwhile not being so warm that you overheat. The Castelli Poggio Jacket is theperfect weight jacket to accomplish just this.

Castelli used a multi-paneled design in thePoggio, not just to streamline fit and help the jacket conform to your bodywhile you are in riding position, but to take advantage of the properties ofseveral fabrics. For example, its Windstopper X-Lite stretch fabric was placedin the front panels. This fabric is not only windproof, it also is waterresistant to help keep you protected from splash when you get stuck on thewheel of a rider who refuses to use a fender. On the back panels, Castelli usedWarmer, a soft, stretch fleeced material that helps to wick excess moistureaway from your skin to keep you dry.

The Poggio also features a flip-upThermoflex collar to keep the chill out and a full length cam-lock zipper thatdoes not slip down when you unzip a few inches for ventilation during a steepclimb. A jacquard gripper elastic seals cold out while keeping the jacket fromriding up. And, because Castelli knows that you will most likely shed a fewlayers, such as ear warmers, during your ride, they included three large backpockets. A reflective front logo and reflective back tabs were added forlow-light visibility.
