The Breakaway is designed to be one of the longer ISM saddles, and is suitable for road or mountain bikes. It is a particularly good saddle for climbing and if you like to roll your hips back in the saddle. The length of the Breakaway allows excellent fore-aft movement. As a UCI legal saddle, the Breakaway can be used in cycling races at all levels.

Independent research shows that traditional saddles don't give enough support to the pubic bones. As a result, they cause pressure in that area of soft tissue that contains many nerves and arteries. This pressure can result in a reduction in blood flow, numbness and pain. The shorter, nose-less design of ISM saddles, coupled with the cut away front area, shift pressure back to the sit bones and relieve this pressure.

Unlike many saddle manufacturers, ISM does not have gender specific models. Their saddles are designed to relieve pressure and improve comfort for both men and women alike.
