General
Just like all other products of our TLO(TheLightestOne) range, the 1K carbon seat post is manufactured to suit yourpersonal weight and riding style using the best prepregs available in themarket. Compared to standard carbon seatposts these seatposts are morevertically compliant with no loss of lateral or torsional stiffness, resultingin a more comfortable riding experience but no loss of energy. Its head clampsthe saddle’s rails on eight points. The alloy parts have chamfered edges,which,together with the large supporting carbon fibre surface, ensures that evenfragile carbon rails are not unduly stressed. The 5 mm Ti6Al4V titanium screwsare waisted extension bolts are strong enough to even withstand rough terrainmountain bike use. The clamping works with all standard round and oval saddlerail designs.
The actual tube’s highest stressed sectionsconsists of up to 17 layers of extremely thin carbon fibre prepreg, while itsless stressed sections are sufficiently strong with as little as 9layers.Unfortunately this is a complicated design, too complicated for cheapAsian production. Seatpost built to a price in China as a rule come withconstant wall-thickness. This makes production easy, it also makes theresulting seatpost heavier than necessary. Seatposts in particular requirehundreds and hundreds of destruction tests to arrive at the lightest possiblesolution for every length and diameter without sacrificing the final productsstrength. We do of course also include rider’s weight into our designequations; light riders don’t need to carry the extra weight of a standardseatpost designed fora user much heavier than they are.
